The Great Geloylu Meeting "Soared" with Peace

The Geloylu Tribe gathered in Iğdır to resolve several long-standing feuds, culminating in an emotional peace ceremony and a new leadership proposal.

The Geloylu Tribe gathered today at 11:00 AM in the Anatolia Wedding Hall in central Iğdır, bringing an end to several feuds that had persisted for 10 years. The meeting, attended by a large crowd, began with an opening speech by Mücahit Özden Hun. Mücahit Özden Hun, who took the podium on behalf of the Peace Committee, continued his speech as follows:

Esteemed Guests, Respected Elders, Dear Brothers and Sisters;

Welcome to the Great Geloylu Community Peace Meeting! (Applause)

Hûn bi xêr hatin! (Welcome!) (Applause)

Before I begin my speech, on behalf of the Geloylu Community, I would like to express two important condolences. We remember with mercy the late Hacı İbrahim Göleli, a respected elder of the Geloylu Community and one of Iğdır's opinion leaders, whom we recently lost. Similarly, we remember with mercy the late Şenol Turak, brother of Mr. Fikret Turak, also one of Iğdır's opinion leaders. We extend our condolences to the Göleli and Turak families. I would also like to thank, in advance, the staff and service personnel of the Anatolia Wedding Hall on behalf of the Geloylu Community.

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

The Geloylu Community has been bravely taking steps and continuing its journey towards peace with full determination over the past year. Today, we have gathered for our third major peace initiative. This hall will be known as the HOUSE OF PEACE for the Geloylu Community. Thousands of thanks be to my Lord who has shown us these days!

Peace is beautiful, peace is sacred. Everyone has contributed to the realization of this peace. The Geloylu Community has achieved its own peace. Let us all applaud the Geloylu Community for this success. (Applause)

Dear Brothers and Sisters;

I have a principle that I have adopted and believe in: "It is a sin to delay peace even for a second."

Before starting the peace ceremony, I invite Hoca Ahmet Karaçöl to the microphone to recite the Quran in memory of the sacred souls of all past and present members of the Geloylu Community who have passed away. May their souls rest in peace!”

After the Quran recitation, Mücahit Özden Hun continued his speech:

“Thank you, esteemed Hoca!

Dear Brothers and Sisters;

For the peace ceremony, I first invite the members of the Akpınar Family to the stage. Now, I invite the members of the İldiz, Çakmaz, and Yanmaz Families. May our peace be auspicious! Thank you!”

The feuding families formed long lines on the stage in accordance with traditions and declared their wishes for peace by shaking hands in turn. The peace ceremony and handshakes, during which emotional moments were experienced and especially the elderly could not hold back their tears, lasted for minutes.

Hacı Reşit İldiz, a prominent figure of the Geloylu Community, came to the podium and delivered a special speech:

“Oh, People of Geloylu! I thank you all. As you know, Ahmed Şemo previously led our tribe. After Ahmed Şemo's passing, his son Mecit Hun continued the leadership. I propose something: From today onwards, let us recognize Mücahit Özden Hun as the leader of the Geloylu Community. Those who accept?”

Upon this question, the participants raised their hands and unanimously approved the proposal with applause. Mücahit Özden Hun continued his closing speech as follows:

“Dear Brothers and Sisters;

It is time for the Geloylu Community to set a new goal. This goal is to become economically prosperous. We will prosper not individually, but by working hand in hand. We will take action to establish large enterprises. We have important projects. We will address these together soon. Thank God, members of the Geloylu scattered across all four corners of Türkiye now have the power to establish large factories, dairies, and businesses. We will act together and prosper together.

The bane that has always broken the back of the Geloylu Community has been politics. The Geloylu Community has never benefited from politics. Mecit Hun, who dedicated his life to politics for half a century from 1950 until his death, was neither elected Mayor nor Member of Parliament. Neither he nor his relatives became acquainted with wealth. Mecit Hun spent all his capital on politics, becoming a servant of politics. When the CHP, to which he sacrificed his life, was in power in 1978, far from Mecit Hun getting rich by taking advantage of this opportunity, his own son was thrown into Erzurum Prison with a conspiracy, and his wife Naciye Hun was thrown into Iğdır Prison. In the years following Mecit Hun's death, the Geloylu Community always served politics and parties. From today onwards, this will be reversed: the Geloylu Community will not be in the service of politics; on the contrary, 'politics' will be in the service of the Geloylu Community. May our peace be auspicious! Thank you all!” (Applause)

The meeting concluded with a meal.

Ermenistan meselesi,
